~Attributed to Harry S. Truman
Life is teaching me, among other things, to quit being stubborn, to release, to let go and to accept! It's not easy. No. No. No. Yes, I have learned to trust that I am where I am supposed to be. No longer do I question why I am here doing this instead of being in that somewhere where, ideally, I would rather be. From what has been happening lately, life has blatantly exposed that this is where I am needed, so here I am. Period.
But how does one let go of children? How does one accept that times have changed, tides have turned? How does one accept that they are now their own person and embrace the fact that they are now capable making their decisions and designing their own lives? How does one keep from wanting to be there? How does a parent shed of reluctance, take a back seat and let go? Sometimes it's a yes I will, at times, it's a no I won't.
Yes- No- Yes - No!
How?
There are self help books, practical guides, professional and religious advice so openly given. I've heard it all, read it all I think. I know the words by heart, the bullets, the numbered "how to" steps. Clinical, they all clang clean clinical to me!
For now, I can only trust that the Universe will provide the answers I specifically need to receive. Intimate answers meant for no one else's ears but mine.
My open heart is listening.
