When Life Swings

Life is pretty much like walking a tightrope or a braided wooden bridge.
It wobbles and swings every step I make. Stable ground at the other end is in sight, but getting there is proving to be tricky. Sometimes I want to turn back. Can't! I'm in the middle hanging on for a dear minute, afterwhich, I take furtive steps once again.

A sudden gust of wind is breaking my steps right now. My woven bridge is slightly swaying, left- right - left - right, my nervous heart flutters with each swing! I am presented with a choice, either I scream in wanton panic or take a breath, rock with the sway, wait out this dizzying movement and enjoy the view. The latter seems more sensible.

No matter this unsettling imbalance, today, I'm keeping precious calm. I am but silent, observant and introspective ,allowing life to naturally release its tremor.
No matter the clanging chaos around and the rapid unsteadiness it causes, I will hold on to my woven handrail of peace and trust that this tremble will subside. I will go about doing what needs to be done and later on, read, write, paint, and take a late afternoon walk where big trees abound. It doesn' look like rain today anyway. I might even take my camera with me.

Walk..walk..walk..this footbridge of life one must.

"He who has a why to live can bear almost any how."
~Friedrich Nietzsche

  1. Lovely metaphors about living and choosing. Keeping that inner peace amidst the chaos of life is what grounds us and keeps us centered, sheltered from the buffeting winds.

  3. every turn is a right turn, every sway keeps us steadier after, though shaken, with strong willed and centered heart, we'll get to where we belong.
