Hugging a tumbler of freshly buttered popping anxiety, I decided to have a doughnut. I turned right, walked inside the usual Mr Donut shop and stood in line. The lady ahead of me was pretty Miss Undecided. Weighing the merits of a BLT, croissants, chocolate rings and strawberry, her flurried pained look was adding ounces to my bursting bucket of uncertainty. It was just too much to bear!

"I need something...I need something...I need to write!" A notebook, any kind, yes, that was what I needed.
"We don't have any," the one person manning the store regretfully said.
"Oh, well, never mind," I dejectedly heaved, my eyes wandering the breath of wooden white shelve and my gaze landing on a stack of pink and yellow books upfront.
They all looked familiar. Reaching out, I took hold of one.
In an instant a wide grin seeded from within me. Simple Abundance, a book that costs 200 pesos short of a thousand was in my hands. I switched it over to its back and gasped, 125 pesos! Wow!
I couldn't believe my luck! The one book I had been so desiring, always put off in favor of other more important things, was warm in my hands. And to say it was at a fraction of its original bookstore price is an understatement! Thumbing through its crisp pages, I marveled at the serendipity and endearment of life's kindness.
Simple Abundance has become more than a book. It has become a catch phrase, a message, an answer, hope and solid reassurance of prism serenity - the year 2010 to come.
Grateful.
It's also less fattening ...:)_
ReplyDeleteI love bookstores. Love them. I can be in them for hours poring through books. My problem is trying to leave with one or two books. To me, a bookstore is the equivalent of a candy store....my eyes open wide and I want them all! I'm so happy you found your book .... and at a fraction of the price... that's always a good thing! Christmas came early for you!!
I love that title, Simple Abundance. I love bookstores as well and do get carried away. I once went in empty handed and came out with at least 10 books, old ones that I love. Hey, at least you didn't eat that doughnut. I love dunkin donuts, delish.:D Have a great weekend. I love your blog too, you always have something good to read. Take care.
ReplyDeleteWhen I read it in the mid-90s, it was at a time when I really needed its message. Such a beautiful book, such a beautiful format, just a little bit each day. I hope you love it as I do.
ReplyDeleteHello Lady Prism,
ReplyDeleteI was just at a bookstore today. I can lose track of time in book stores.
I'm sure you enjoyed your tasty treat, as well as having a nice time shopping for books.
Have a great day,
Lydia
